| Hello,
Regarding sound for web sites, I've been able to use several of the types of sound formats on web sites developed so far. And, before I go too much further, I left a controller at the bottom of the page if you would like to turn off or turn down the sound of the seashore.mid that plays on this page. On the A to Z section of the Oakland Zoo web site I did all of the multimedia for the animal sections. There are some stories, animal sounds, and gif animations of the animals that I video taped with a hi-8 camera. The sound source came from a CD the zoo had produced. In the KlaasKids web site I used audio to allow Marc Klaas to explain the video they had just finished called "Missing: What To Do If Your Child Disappears". The audio is linked to an image that a user can click on to hear the explanation of the picture. School Time Software sells a phonics multimedia CD that teaches children and adults to read. I used streaming audio here to demonstrate what a lesson might be like. Just for fun you can also see QuickTime 3 video and sound on my Whale Watching vacation site. We went to Baja California where the whales bear their young. While in Magdalena Bay, Mexico, the whales are quite gentle and amazingly graceful. Sometimes only sound can let you know how exciting something really is. And, music is very exciting for those of us who are budding musicians wishing to publish our own stuff. I have done some web sites with music samples from a musicians CD. The hot technology last year was streaming RealAudio. However, newer technologies have been developed that give better quality and streaming ability. These are demonstrations of sites I did in 98. You can listen to Mary Borgia, a local Monterey artist, or a tune by me. Thanks for stopping by and listening. Greg Hyde, |
