As we got higher on the switchback the views got more impressive. We could see more of the volcanic history of the rocks around the peak.
At one point, the trail got somewhat narrower and my wife jumped back on me yelling "rattlesnake!" The critter was very casually draped across the trail, half in the grass and half in the dirt. It was the first "green" colored one I had ever seen. Someone up ahead of us, coming down the trail got a stick and gently persuaded it to move on back into the rocks so we humans could proceed with our hike. |
